Once upon a time on All Hallows Night
I walked through a forest bathed in moonlight
Trees loomed larger than they could possibly be
Gnarled branches reached out menacingly
Twiggy claws plucked at my hair
A screeching owl streaked through the air
I clutched at my collar and gave a timid shudder
Gingerly walking through the fallen leaf cover
A great stone bridge arose in a clearing
Beneath its arch an eerie glow was appearing
Bellowing and dancing to a horrible din
Were Trolls, Ogres, and Hobgoblin
Their frenzied shadows moved across the wall
Fear crawled up my spine and I lost all control
I took to my heels and ran like a hound
Not stopping till I was home, home safe and sound

Have a Hair Raising Halloween!

  1. Magical verses, ghostly bridges, all the mischievousness of this special eve, presented fearlessly and bravely as we meander into the wicked night!! May the spirits be kind as we make our way home. Happy All Hallows Eve!!!

  2. Likewise Cate 👻
Fine verse – reminds me that I was always very fond of Bobby “Boris” Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers:

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes
