I took another trip to Long Island City and Gantry Plaza State Park last weekend. I’m fascinated with the resurgence in LIC. The CitiCorp building was the first “skyscraper” in Queens and the first tall commercial building. Now growing up all around it are other buildings both commercial and residential. Wonderful new 21st century architecture that takes your breath away with it’s shiny glass and metal facades and weird geometric angles. It’s a great neighborhood all around with a state park right on the East River with a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline, artists lofts and galleries (it’s becoming a little Soho), brownstone houses, bars, clubs, restaurants and cafes. Hop on the #7 train sometime and walk around you’ll have a blast. To see more photos click on any of the stock links on the right side of this page.
